What the heck’s a StoopingNYC?
StoopingNYC is an Instagram page dedicated to street thrifting.
See a polka dot lamp, cat statue, or a not-so-rickety chair out on the street?
Send a pic and location to @StoopingNYC to post and one of their followers will take it.
It’s an effective zero-waste model with full anonymity, but what if there was a way to bring a sense of gratitude and community into the mix?
All it takes is one simple act.
The Secondhand Stories Campaign
A experiential campaign that invites New Yorkers to donate and share the stories of their belongings for new owners to cherish. The action campaign ads will show photos of donated items with short personal stories from their owners, which will make it clear that the giving away your stuff can make a lasting impact.
Main Event: A StoopingNYC storytelling and donation pop-up event under 42nd St. station.

Why “What’s your story?”
This headline tells the reader to share the stories of their donation. To think of their own history and lived experiences, their donation could’ve been an important attachment. As they continue reading they can connect their history to their belongings and join the subway event.
Extension #1
Spotify Podcast
Enjoy the official StoopingNYC podcast where guests can talk about the items they’ve recently donated and what the item(s) meant to them. There’s history behind every donated item, it can make for interesting conversation.

Extension #2 - Personal Features on Social Media
Anyone willing to donate an item can be featured so that the future taker knows the importance/history behind the item they take. This can create a more connected community between donors and takers.
